Leadership Jacob A. Laskin President & Founder With nearly ten years of experience in the electric and solar industries, Jacob has worked hard to successfully pair appropriate investors with exemplary solar energy projects. Jacob has held a number of leadership roles at leading electric and solar industry firms, including TCI Inc., Renovus Energy and SolSource. He received his BA in Environmental Politics from Ithaca College and studied in a Master's program in Renewable Energy and Corporate Environmental Management at the University of Jyvaskyla in Finland. David D. Remington Vice President of Finance David is responsible for project development, accounting, finance and procurement. Prior to NextSun Energy, David was with the sub-surface utility engineering team at Safe-Site Inc., in Johnstown, Colorado where he worked closely with Xcel Energy during the construction of new distribution systems and the replacement of old medium and high voltage lines. David earned his BS in Accounting and Finance from Slippery Rock University and BA in Geography from the University of Colorado at Denver and holds a GIS Certification. Brian Hancz Director of O&M Brian is a practiced Solar Energy Engineer who oversees all aspects of site operations and maintenance. At NextSun Energy Brian uses his technical expertise to maintain performance metrics and provide technical reports. Coordinating with electricians, contractors, vendors, and landowners Brian maintains positive relationships in order to keep sites running smoothly in a cost effective manner. Brian received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado, School of Engineering and Applied Science. As an undergraduate he worked on a year long renewable energy project for Boeing which sparked his interest in the subject. Brian became so enthusiastic in his energy research he decided to continue his career in academia, leading to a MS in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Energy Engineering. After graduation Brian worked for Juwi Solar as an Operations Analyst. There he wrote code to analyze over 170 MW of utility scale solar plants for a variety of projects including analyzing site performance, quantifying module soiling and expected ROI of washing, and predicting future generation. He also monitored plants and led on site troubleshooting using the in house SCADA system. Brian continued to grow at Juwi as an Operations Engineer. In this position he provided leadership to the O&M group and improved SCADA functionality for the Operations Center. He assisted the Systems and Solar Tracking Engineering groups with projects and site analysis, including in depth studies of lost generation due to snow and its' structural loading on the Juwi Tracker. Brian continues to use his experience to implement design and O&M strategies at NextSun Energy with consideration to performance, operations, and plant longevity. Brian Casey Senior Advisor Brian is a leading expert in the energy utility industry with over 25 years of experience. As the founder and CEO of SourceOne. Brian was responsible for the overall management, strategy, and technical initiatives of the company. Brian successfully raised equity investments, opened and staffed regional offices, and acquired complementing business from a division of a fortune 500 energy services company. While at SourceOne, Brian also developed a uniquely qualified private utility service offering, creating a leading energy services company that is now utilized internationally. Under Brian's direction SourceOne developed and implemented award winning sustainable energy projects for its customers and secured high profile multi-million dollar energy efficiency and infrastructure contracts within both the private and public sectors. Veolia Energy (NYSE: VE), an international conglomerate, acquired SourceOne in April of 2007. Brian continued to grow SourceOne over the next several years delivering double-digit growth in both revenue and earnings, accumulating significant shareholder value. In his capacity as an energy utility expert, Brian has authored articles on industry events, including the 2003 Northeast Black Out and is a frequent guest lecturer at various industry events. Prior to founding SourceOne, Brian served as an Account Executive at Boston Edison Company and held positions at R.W. Beck and Commonwealth Energy Company.
